The inauguration will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at the Westchester campus of Loyola Marymount University (1 Loyola Marymount University Drive, Los Angeles, Calif. 90045). The full schedule is available on our inauguration events page.

The day will begin with a Missioning Mass, followed by a community lunch. The Installation Ceremony will follow, and the day will end with a Spirit of the Season Reception on Alumni Mall. The full schedule is available on our inauguration events page.

The inauguration is open to all, but RSVP is required. Members of the LMU community – including trustees, alumni, faculty, staff, and students – are encouraged to attend, joining community leaders, delegates from other colleges and institutions, religious leaders, members of the founding religious communities, and special guests of the president and Board of Trustees.

Yes. Pre-registration is required for all Inauguration events; once you RSVP, you’ll receive an e-ticket with a QR code.

Unfortunately, Inauguration is at capacity from pre-registrants, and no on-site registration will be permitted the day of the event.

Yes – on Tuesday, Dec. 9, campus access will be limited to LMU students, staff, and faculty, along with Inauguration attendees who pre-registered and have an e-ticket with QR code. All LMU students, staff, and faculty — whether walking or driving onto campus — will be required to show their OneCard at both the LMU Drive and Loyola Boulevard entrances.

The ceremony will last about two hours and will be immediately followed by the Spirit of the Season Reception on Alumni Mall. Children are welcome to attend the inauguration festivities.

No, there is no limit to the number of guests you can bring, but all guests must register to attend.

Registration helps organizers plan appropriately for seating, logistics, and event capacity. Please register here. Enter the 5-digit, alpha-number code located on your invitation mailing label or in your invitation email. If no code was provided in your invitation, enter G9CMU (for staff, students, and community members) or C2FAC (for faculty). Any questions about your code, please email inauguration@lmu.edu.

There are several parking lots available on campus, as shown on the campus map. The event is completely free to attend, and parking will be complimentary for visitors on Dec. 9.

No, but all are welcome.

No, you do not need a ticket. The Community Lunch is open to all registered attendees. Pack up a boxed lunch to go, or join others at the picnic tables on Regents Terrace.

Yes, vegan and gluten-free options will be available for guests with dietary restrictions.

Business attire with comfortable shoes is recommended. The Missioning Mass and Installation Ceremony will be held indoors, while the Community Lunch and Spirit of the Season Reception will be held outdoors.

Seating for guests with disabilities, including a wheelchair-accessible area, will be available during the inauguration, and transportation will be available to guests with specific accessibility needs, with ADA-compliant shuttles operating from three campus locations: University Hall, in front of Lot B (Gersten Pavilion), and the Student Health Center (SHC). ASL interpretation will also be provided upon request.

All attendees will be required to pass through security upon arrival. Please arrive early, to allow enough time to pass through the screening.
If you bring a bag, it must be clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and must not exceed 12” x 6” x 12” or a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc or similar). Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand (4.5" x 6.5"), with or without a handle or strap can be taken into the event in addition to one clear plastic bag.
Prohibited Items:
- Weapons, firearms, or knives
- Professional cameras, video, or audio equipment
- Selfie sticks or tripods
- Cigareetes, e-cigarettes, vape pens, or lighters
- Outside food and beverages, glass, cans, or aluminum bottles
- Hoverboards or skateboards
- Pepper spray or mace
- Laser pens or pointers
- Balloons inflatables
- Drones
- Signs, banners, stickers, or spray paint
- Any bag larger than 12” x 6” x 12”
- Large chains or special jewelry
- Illegal substances
Sealed or unsealed disposable water bottles and paper coffee cups will be allowed. Exceptions will also be made for medically necessary and/or special needs items after proper inspection at designated locations, including medically necessary food or beverages.

LMU supports freedom of expression, open dialogue, and respectful engagement. To uphold these commitments, the university has designated specific locations for expressive activity: These areas include St. Robert’s Lawn, Sunken Garden, and the LMU Drive entrance. Please note that no sound amplification is permitted on St. Robert’s Lawn or Sunken Garden. All individuals must follow existing LMU policies and community standards, including the Freedom of Expression Policy, Student Code of Conduct, and Time, Place, Manner for Social Action for students, Faculty Handbook on collegiality for faculty, and Behavioral Expectations in the Workplace for staff.

Final exams will take place as scheduled. Festivities for inauguration will unfold throughout the day, and we encourage everyone to take part in the moments that best fit their schedule.

Volunteers will be stationed and circulating across campus throughout the day to assist visitors and provide event information. They will be easily identifiable by their festive LMU holiday sweaters.

Delegates are invited to attend the Missioning Mass on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 10:15 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, immediately followed by the Delegate Luncheon at the Jesuit Community. Delegates will proceed to Gersten Pavilion, where they will be directed to their room to begin robing for the Installation Ceremony, which will start at 2 p.m. Further instructions for delegates will be provided via email.
