Care for Those Affected by Wildfires

January 8, 2025

Dear LMU Community,

As wildfires continue to devastate parts of Los Angeles County, our hearts are heavy with concern for those impacted by this ongoing crisis. Members of our Lion family and neighboring communities have suffered loss, including the destruction of their homes. You are in my thoughts and prayers, and your safety and well-being remain our highest priorities. LMU has been actively engaged with affected students, faculty, and staff and is providing support resources and exploring additional accommodations to address their needs. We are closely monitoring the situation and remain in contact with public officials and emergency services to assure that we respond appropriately.

Our campuses are not directly impacted at this time, and the university continues to operate normally. We will continue to provide guidance, including updates about remote work and other potential changes. We also offer resources for students, faculty, and staff seeking support.

In the face of these challenges, I am reminded of the strength, compassion, and resilience that define our Catholic, Jesuit, and Marymount mission. Let us continue to support one another, offering kindness and assistance wherever needed. Together, we will navigate these hardships, united by our commitment to cura personalis.

We stand in community as Lions, and we will rise from this crisis with spirit and solidarity. Please stay safe–every moment. You remain in my prayers.

With care and hope,
Timothy Law Snyder, Ph.D.
President
