Easter Greetings
Dear LMU Community,
In Pope Leo’s first Palm Sunday homily, and at the opening of this Holy Week, the Holy Father put forth a plea for peace in the world, urging us to “contemplate [Jesus’] passion for the sake of humanity, his broken heart, and his life as a gift of love.” During this Holy Week and Passover holiday, I encourage you to quiet your hearts and consider how you might be a source of joy and solace for your loved ones and communities.
I am grateful to our colleagues in the Division of Mission for the time and care they have dedicated to grounding our community in prayer, music, and reflection. On behalf of our campus faith leaders, I invite you to our Holy Week liturgies in Sacred Heart Chapel this Holy Thursday, Good Friday, the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday.
Whatever your faith tradition may be, and wherever you spend these next few days, I hope you return to campus filled with renewed energy for the celebrations ahead, including the Faculty Awards Ceremony, the Phi Beta Kappa Induction Ceremony, the Student Academic Service and Leadership Awards, and, of course, Commencement Weekend.
I wish you and your families a peaceful Easter and Passover and a safe return to campus for the final weeks of the semester.
With gratitude,
Thomas Poon, Ph.D.
President and Professor of Chemistry
