Scholarship Initiative Goal Surpassed
Message from the President
January 19, 2017
Dear LMU Community:
I share excellent news: We recently surpassed our Scholarship Initiative goal of $100 million by nearly $3 million. This effort has and will continue to enhance significantly our ability to attract and retain a high caliber, diverse student body.
We raised almost $103 million for need-based scholarships to ensure that an LMU education remains accessible to academically qualified applicants, regardless of financial considerations. Since the initiative was announced in October 2012, we have created 338 named scholarships. This is a record-setting achievement and is more than double our scholarship fundraising over the prior decade.
I congratulate our University Relations colleagues, led by Senior Vice President Dennis Slon, for their steadfast determination to reach and exceed this fundraising goal in partnership with our deans and other campus leaders. I am grateful to our trustees, regents, alumni, parents, donors, and friends for their support of and investment in LMU’s future. LMU will build on this momentum to extend our shared vision of global imagination, to remain synonymous with academic excellence, and to deepen our Jesuit and Marymount tradition of transforming our students into persons for and with others.
Developing and cultivating a culture of philanthropy is an ongoing effort and shared responsibility. Please join me in thanking our fundraising colleagues, our deans, and our friends and supporters for exceeding our institutional advancement objectives with persistence and professionalism.
With sincere appreciation and thanks,
Timothy Law Snyder, Ph.D.
President
