Carol Costello is a veteran journalist, educator, and storyteller whose work at Loyola Marymount University has bridged media, civic engagement, and justice. As the university’s External Relations Ambassador and an adjunct lecturer in journalism, she has helped lead Media, Arts & A Just Society—a cross-college initiative uniting the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts, the School of Film and Television, and the College of Communication and Fine Arts. Through Project Citizen and its immersive storytelling projects like Climate360 and Election 2024, Carol has challenged students to broaden their worldviews and explore social issues with depth and creativity.

Her award-winning broadcasting career spans three decades, including years as an anchor and political correspondent at CNN and HLN. Carol played a key role in covering major global and national stories, including presidential elections, the Gulf Oil Spill, and Hurricane Katrina. She has interviewed four U.S. presidents and earned honors from the Emmy Awards, United Press International, and the Associated Press.

Carol continues to shape public discourse through her podcast work, including Carol Costello Presents and I Hate Your Generation, and she remains an active voice in journalism education through her affiliation with Kent State University’s professional advisory board.
